Has anyone out there tried the quadrafire, octafire or hexafire? I see them on their website, but they offer discouraging information, such as *specifications prone to change and such... The only reason I ask is because on bayviewproaudio.com the octafire, for $560 gets you a four preamp on the front plus 8 quarter inch ins and outs on the back, and supports up to 24-bit 192kHz sampling rate. So...does it exist? Is it worth it? Anyone get one?

I can tell you my friend uses the Quatafire with his laptop and Sonar, and has done well for him.

I've got one!

I've got the 610.

my pros and cons:

pros: small, firewire, headphone out, 2 midis, ok converters, cheap.

cons: HiZ sucks, preamps are a pain to use (to sensitive gain control at the point it gives decent gain). crappy monitormixing in software. So many outputs, but I can make just one mix for all outputs. unless you have something spdif, you can only use 4 inputs.

I'm thinking of buying a nice stereo preamp with spdif, to use the full potential of this card. Or maybe move on to a device with 8 inputs. RME?

I think it's decent thing to use with your laptop. record some vocals, some guitars and stuff. Not really useable for bandrecordingers (inputs/monitoring)
