i was bored and had the day off of school so i made some guitar clips. its all narrated with what kind of guitar, what channel, how far away the mic is, and so forth. thought this might be nice for those looking into these mics.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

d'ahh i'll re-try the encoding sorry about that.

(ALSO DEAD)

i checked that mp3 in my wmp before i sent it into lightningmp3 to make sure it worked so hopefully it does.

yeah, lightning mp3 is giving me troubles. i didnt look at the page and it had this error below where it told me thanks for uploading.

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/tmp/phpdhy9bc' to '/home/lightnin/public_html/live/68333_glsaudioes57.mp3' in /backup/websites/lightnin/public_html/upload3.php on line 92

something must be wrong with their server or something.

alright finally i have a working, direct mp3 hosted file. you have to press the download button then enter in the robot-safe code then it will pop up a window with a quicktime mp3 player or whatver it is.

I have been meaning to pick up a three pack of them, thanks for the clips.

Surprisingly, this sounds like a SM-57! :)

Thanks for the clips.

Oh, don't worry about chesscock. He usually doesn't have anything useful to contribute to a forum, but has a need to "connect" or something.

Well since they're 1/3 the price, hot damn! I might have to buy some.

And I can't get the clip to work. :(

I downloaded it

Hi,

I think the ES57s sound pretty good on the rock guitar. They were clean on all the samples. I preferred the '6 inches away' over 'on the grill' for all three tests.

Standout performance by the mic is on your voiceover work. I think you may have just found your permanent talk into mic. Very clear and quiet. Detailed spoken parts.

I just got an SM57 and I've been thinking about these ES57s. This test convinced me that the mics are worth buying.

Thanks,

Hairy Larry

i don't know how close it sounds to a real 57 but it sounds like a useful mic. i preferred the 6" distance also. man reaper is moving fast.......1.71. it will probably be at 2.0 before summer.

btw, i've had problems all day with lightningmp3. if you have a gmail account, you can create a google page to host your own mp3's (100 mb file space). it's very easy to do. if you don't have gmail hit my up and i'll send you an invite.

i dont have gmail so if you sent me an invite that would be great! my email is matthew.avery@hotmail.com if you want to send me the invite there. thanks a lot. yeah i also liked the 6" away better than anything. and they've always said a 57 right up on the grill sounds best. i'm gonna have to change my ways when tracking now, as i've always had the mic pressed right up against the grill for rock bands. and yeah, i think the lower mids sound different from a 57, but i like it and it is definitely usable. i have to still try it out on snare. who knows maybe i'll do a snare mic shootout of all the budget mics i have! haha

i have a few es57s, they get used a lot. they don't stand a chance against a heil pr30 on most sources though, so don't let it be your only dynamic.

What do you use the pr30 on?

If no EQing was done, I thought that maybe the ES-57s had a little more high end response than an SM-57. Am I the only one who thought this? I thought they sounded really good, maybe just a tad brighter than an SM- 57.

If no one else heard this, then maybe it is just my ears, or the fact that I listened to the clips through headphones at work....
