I'm a cw user but i prefer to use CEP 2.0 for final mixing
I have a strange and apparently banal error: CEP seem not able to play my midi track
when i hit play a dialog box appear titled : Error opening midi output device,
and in the dialog: undefined external error.
I checked the options/device properties and my midi ports seem correctly configured. Also in track view, hitting map in the dialog box "midi device assignment" the device is set correctly. So I don't understand why i get this error. Does somebody know how can I solve this probkem?
thanks
Max

PS I Also would prefer to have midi tracks splitted in different tracks instead of having the whole file in a track but if I understand well this is not possible
:(

well...you will have to choose another software...cuz AA/CEP dont do midi....

I'm talking about cool edit pro 2, you are wrong because this software do inport midi files and so it is suppose to manage them in the multitrack view. It is only that i have this problem.

Yes, Cool Edit Pro will import MIDI. And, No, it won't play it. I discovered that when I was trying to get my expensive Mackie Control to work. Seems that it needed the firmware version after the one it shipped with to work with CEP, and the firmware upgrade was in the form of a MIDI file. I spent a couple of days trying to figure out why my successfully imported MIDI wouldn't play back.

I finally had to play the MIDI file back through Windows Media Player to update the MC.
