ErnieBall Stingray replacement p/u.. Bartolini? Need fat modern rock tone...

Are the Bartolini bass pickups still as awesome as they were back in the day? I want to replace the crappy sounding pickup in this bass to something more modern rockish (think Staind or Korn even) Its a 5-string OLP, actually, licensed through Ernie Ball, but its the same thing almost, cept the electronics suck ass.

Do I want a Bartolini? Which one?

I would second the Seymore Duncan Bassline Direct repalcements for Sting Rays and the active EQ although it would run you $350 to $400 for both.

They were reviewed very favorably and better than the original real deals in Bass Player Mag several years ago and I put a set in my home made fretless...replaced some EMG D45's and BSQ electronics.

But then again most of the really good Jazz players I like have Bartolini's.....

If you want the Sting Ray sound though I would go with the Seymore Duncan Basslines (with the Alcino magnets).
