Then I'll tell you up front.
The mic is great but if you spent a $200 less and got yourself a Blue Bluebird and added the $250 that you saved from not buying the Voxguard and M-Audio Speakers to that then you would have about $450 left to spend on proper monitors and headphones.
Room treatment can be dealt when the problem presents itself.

I thought the advice was solid. Nothing wrong with learning as much as you can and there is a lot of questionable advice being passed off by people who act like Audio Gods but don't know shit. AND NO, I'M NOT REFERRING TO YOU!

a vespas not a bike..its a scooter, i know Ive owned around six as well as jap bikes, not scooters ;)

anyway to the OP...get stuck in..fuck sitting around reading, whatever you buy you can always sell on..this buy cheap buy twice is nonsense, there will always be someone to take what you dont want/need and as long as you dont buy new the depreciation is negligible

and only listen to my advice as Im the only one in here who isnt a fool...honest :D

I am an American, (Midwest born and raised) I don't know all about the slang used to describe scooter riders, but I am about to find out this spring, when I get a scooter of my own. It won't be a Vespa though, as I can only afford the cheap imported Chinese shit.

Understandable. My first bike (excuse me, kcearl... scooter) was a Genuine Buddy, built in Taiwan. I highly recommend it as a starter bike.

Do NOT buy a scooter made in mainland China. You'll be shit out of luck finding parts and service for it. The Taiwanese bikes are generally dependable and have sizable dealer networks to support them. Anything by Genuine, Kymco, or SYM would be a solid choice.

Owning a Vespa is all about the brand name. You'll pay twice as much for regular maintenance just because it's a Vespa. If you break a critical part, you'll probably wait a couple of weeks for them to ship a new part from Italy. I would definitely recommend a Taiwanese scooter, or an Indian-made Genuine Stella (made in the same factory and to the same specs as the old P-type Vespas) if you want a more vintage style bike.
 
my first was a '65 150 sport...which was a Vespa built under license by Douglas aircraft builders in the UK, my last was a '96 PX200e...

I dont have any time for the more modern stuff..I only liked the italian ones up to the P range...quite a few ride with the Pharaohs scooter club down here in SD, tempting to pick another up if they werent so bloody lethal lol :)

Oh and I dont know how you do it with the cagers in the US...f*ck they are bad drivers! :eek:

This is often true. It is also just as often not true.
For me, this view tends to overlook the reality that few people finish up with the gear they started with, we generally all acquire bits as we go along, test out new things, sell on or give away bits etc, etc. So ultimately, it doesn't really matter. Just get recording ~ you'll progress and learn and have a bundle of cute tales to tell your granchildren. Besides, money spent in error are the price of an education. :(
That said, Dan's words shouldn't be ignored. They're worth bearing in mind and considering.

This, on the other hand is downright insulting.
I don't think many would dispute that there may be bad advice or ill informed advice. But no one purposely doles out shitty advice. It's all given in utmost good faith. Saying people give 'wrong' or 'bad' advice isn't a problem as it may be true. Using words like 'dumb' takes it to a level that is bound to turn an innocent thread into "fight club".
