Hello, all, first post! I'm thinking about starting up a home recording studio in order to make my own music, and have done a little reading up on different equipment to buy. Someone recommended the Lexicon Omega mixer because it's USP installed instead of PCI and comes with the DAW Cubase LE. However, I read a review from someone on musiciansfriend.com saying that he found Cubase to be un-user-friendly and recommended Reaper, instead. I've also read that Drumit from Hell Superior is a good set of drum samples to buy, but it costs $300 or so. Is it worth it? Lastly, I've been told that the most reliable (for the price) mic is the Shure SM57. I was thinking about picking one up, with a stand, and XLR cable. Will I need anything special, adapter-wise, to hook up to the Lexicon Omega mixer, or is all I need the XLR cable? I'm sorry if these questions have obvious answers, but I've never done this before. : P
Last but not least, will all of this equipment work together on a computer with 64-bit Windows Vista?
