Hey All,
So I'm looking to become a little more technical savy when it comes to mixing down music w/ wave files. Some tech-friendly friends are always giving me advice on an instrument's "place" in the mix and what frequency ranges to cut (for instance they say remove all frequencies under 20 for bass drum - or cut everything under 150 for guitar).
Just seeing what advice you cats can give me about removing frequencies from different instruments in the mix to clear up and the overall sound? Any frequencies you can recommend boosting for particular instruments? What do you do?

-Snare Drum
-Hi-Hat
-Cymbals
