Well, there are some uses for verb in mastering. For example, sometimes it can be used to add a little "glue" to bring the mixed tracks together a bit, or a little reverb tail added to either a hard end or a ME-applied fade at the end of a song. Tom and John could probably come up with a couple more, perhaps.Alexbt said:And I can't imagine using reverb on any stereo mixdowns... to master anyways... Shouldn't reverb be added pre premastering?

It just makes me wonder if its just some dood messing around trying to get us pissed. So i dont let it get to me i just try and make sure no one is falling for it.

RhythmRmixd said:Can a real short reverb be added to the overall stereo mix to give it a bit more "fullness"? I remember hearing this and I was wondering if it's used for this reason ever.
sosob said:Well this is the reason i posted my post. It's time for a new attitude. We get all these folk saying how great all these recordings from the 60's/70's sound but yet all these so-called wonderfully crafted albums from the 80's and 90's when EQ's were making such an impact on sound quality failed to rate. The emphesis on mastering should be on adding dimension (be it compression or other) to the already mixed music. It should be in the finishing stage, the EQ levels should be set in the mix-down process. It's no wonder music sounds so over produced these days with the attitude that using an EQ should be used to correct any errors that should have been balanced in mixing. Because, if you have to use an EQ you are correcting these "errors" which shouldnt even exist. C'mon, don't let these people sell you stuff you don't need. New attitudes please. peace!
Yes - exactly right!!!7string said:Ok, let's see if I have this straight. Use reverb to EQ a track. So, then I should use, say, chorus to compress a track? What would I use to dither a track? Flange?
