Sorry I ask alot of questions. I have two firepods one for drums and the other stuff and a acp88 for the drums I just got a DBX IEQ31 eq and I want to know what is the best way to get the most out of the EQ ? and the best way to eq everything or just certain things? This eq has two channels but I cant figure out how to hook it up? or where it is best to hook it up?

Use it for dialing feedback out of floor wedges (or throw it out).

IMO, YMMV, etc., etc., yada, yada.

Eq

Thanks you for your answer but can I ask why? I dont know much about this stuff I just always thought most studios had EQ

You're better off taking a raw signal and applying eq later if you need it. You can't undo it if you track it with eq, and a lotta times what it sounds great by itself isn't great in a mix. Plugins do a great job in mixing, plus you introduce more connections, more noise, more potential to mess up the gains before the interface, etc.. I use an eq in a PA only, for exactly what Massive said. Notching out feedback freq's and making up for room acoustics.

yeah, no real good practical use for that. Sell it or trade it for something you can actually use.

If you know what sound your going for you should use it during recording. I was at a workshop a few weeks ago and met Eddie Kramer producer and engineer for bands like KISS, Led Zeppelin, and Jimi Hendrix and was asked about how he does the equing on a track and he basically said if I can get it dialed in now that's one less step I have to fool with later. I agree.

Sure - But not 31-band graphic EQ's with feedback destroyers. Those are for live use. Even parametrics should be used as sparingly as possible if used on the way in (and you'd be far better off tweaking mic placement and the core sound itself).
