Can anyone tell me the difference in EQ section of the M-30 compared to the M-308? Is it an improvement? The same?

Thanks

Ok the Eq on the 308 is Low sweeps between 50 and 1k
mid sweeps between 200 and 4k
High is fixed at at 10k

The 30 Eq Is Low sweeps between 60 and 1.5 k
mid sweeps between 1k and 10k
High is fixed at 12.5 k''
I dont know enough about the electronics of it to say if one is better or not but the one thing that is nice about about the 308 is that you can shut the eq section off bypassing it for a cleaner signal with less electronics to go through.

Thanks Herm!

Probably a subjective question BUT what do you think would be more usable in a mixdown? I need to learn about frequencies:)

FWIW I think one of the most useful areas to be able to eq is 200 ~ 400Hz...I think that's where I do much of my eq work is in that range and its all cutting when I have to use it, so I like the 308 eq much better...I'd be frustrated with the M30 eq...cutting at around 1kHz and mild boosting at around 3 ~ 5kHz I find useful too...

Wait...are those low sweeps peaking or shelving?

The highs on the m30 is shelving fixed at 12.5 k and the mids and lows are parametric

I...

I think the M30's EQ would be "better", due to more facile sweep ranges and the 12.5k High band. The M308 leaves an EQ "hole" between 4k-10k, doesn't it?

As always, YMMV!!!;)

Okay...yeah-yeah.

if mids and lows are peaking filters on both I'd probably like the M-30 eq better. I'm not so concerned about a hole on the 30n as I am about where the hole is at. I like being able to work in the 4 ~ 5kHz range and the mids on the 308 top at 4k. I wouldn't any of this be a deal-breaker though...both have a ton of flexibility over the standard fixed three-band or swept mid-band of most mixers in that format.
