EQ presets

Hello All.
I am mixing a recording at the moment, but am a bit lost when it comes to EQ. I can muck around for ages and get a range of decent sounds, but I would really like to slap a default "Snare EQ" setting on my snare track and fine tune from there. Lazy I know, but does anyone know of anything that can do this? Or even a list of suggested EQ settings that I can apply in Cubase?
Any help greatfully appreciated
 
My Lord! how many different times did you post this same question? The real answer to your question is: If you really want to be an engineer, you will have to learn to like fiddling with EQ. Thats what we do.
 
Try this

Turn on the hi pass at 100 Hz. Than boost 200 Hz for 5 dB and Q=1, and boost 3000 Hz for 4 dB and Q=1, and boost 5000-7000 Hz for 3-5 dB.

These settings always work with my snare. I hope you'll find them usefull!

p.s. I always gate and reverbate snare to get extra punch!

"settings always work" for YOU in YOUR ROOM, with YOUR gear, YOUR snare, YOUR mics/placement.......

Those settings have absolutely no bearing on any context other than in your space.......
 
I understand the desire to have a "default" that makes things quicker and easier. I find that "default" settings like that destroy albums though. They make things stale, old hat, and lacking in energy. I love having to look at EVERY track and feel it and think about it and how it relates to each different song, arrangement, or even to each different part of the same song. If you want to be a succesfull engineer you will have learn to break away from always wanting to do the same exact thing. You need to learn to love the inconsistency of things and learn how to make that work to your advantage. There is no trick that I have that I "always" do. The only thing I always do is my best to get myself immersed deeply in EVERY project I do so that I can put out the best work I poosibly can. Thats why people hire me.

That all being said, save a preset if you relly want:P

I must say that i agree with blue bear and xstatic! The best for your record is to go trough all the tracks, even if you already have a great preset done. Not every band needs same snare, or even not every song of one band needs same snare. So with experimentation you will soon get a bunch of your own presets, wich will make you you! And not to mention how many things you will learn and find out, the thins that you didnt even target for!
