Protools Offers 5 EQs. If 7 Band EQ gives more choices, why do they offer 1 Band and 4 Band? What is the difference between all EQs?

So, if i need to boost or to cut one frequency I can just use 1 Band EQ? When is it necessery to use 4 or 7 Band EQ?

i will usually use the one band if i just want to create a low roll off. the 4 band gets used the most. and the 7 band is for the tracks that really need help... it is all relative to what you need.

So, if I understand correct, if 4 or 7 Band EQs are used, more then one frequency should be selected for a change, otherwise just stay with 1 Band?

You need to go to www.tweakheadz.com and read Tweak's how to guide. If you can't wrap your head around how to CHOOSE an eq you're probably going to be lost on how to actually use it.

use an EQ with as many bands as you need, no more. there's not point in using a 7-band if you only need 1 band is there?

edit: check the digidesign website, they now offer the EQ 3 set of plug-ins which are really good, better than the the EQ PT normally ships with, even in terms of user interface alone.

i think that's what he's already using...if it's a 7 band EQ

just to reiterate...7 band gives you more options, but a tad more CPU usage. 1 band is for quick rolloffs or boosts.
The 7 band is the exact same thing as the 4 band except you get high and low pass filters (they are greyed out in the 4 band)
