Hey there guys, yet another question about monitoring. I was told by one "pro" audio guy that you shouldn't have EQ in the monitor chain. I was told by yet another "pro" audio guy that you almost always have to have EQ in the monitor chain. I am not getting good results with my Event PS5's and am thinking I need to put a dual 31 band eq in the path and RTA the room (very small) that I'm in. Any thoughts on that? Also, the eq that I was thinking of purchasing is a Behringer at about $150. It's for a bands project studio and I was thinking that since only we would here whats coming thru the monitors (not the public) then a little added noise by the eq wouldn't hurt. Any thoughts? Thanks for all the help.

If you use your EQ, you'll just be adding more "noise" to your signal. I'd keep it as clean as possible and spend a little time learning whatever room you're running from.

Not a good idea -- you introduce more noise and anomalies than you would fix....

definitely try using different placements and possibly some room treatment.....

exactly what do you mean by "not getting good results"?.....
