Did you see SNL last night? A guitar player in the house band was playing a Sheraton II. I''m pretty sure it was one of the new ones.

No, I missed that. Do they replay it during the week? Could you tell if it had the standard Grover or Imperial style tuners? Imperial would likely mean it was an Elite vs. USA model.

The shot wasn't close enough to identify the tuners, on my screen.

SNL isn't rerun during the week on cable. Maybe on satellite TV?

Well...the profiteers are starting to show up on Ebay...two sunburst Sheraton I's at $1299.00 Buy it now price. One Antique sheraton II with case $1799.00 Buy it now price!

I kinda feel bad for the folks who really were looking for this kind of guitar for themselves and missed the opportunity.

What kind of strings are on it? The II came with standard 10's, 3 wound, 3 plain, but the I came with wound G set. These seem pretty easy to bend.

Maybe you need to replace the strings?

My I came with the wound G. Have you changed yours?

And they're still going for $2555.00 at Music123.

I really like the strings so I haven't changed them. I want to find out what kind they are so I can order some.

Wonder how much I could get for my II? No bids on any of those I found on Ebay last night.

Well Hix, you made a decision yet on your Sheraton? Yea or Nay?

man I wish I had some money right now. I used to have a sheraton from back in the mid 90's. It was black and I didn't quite like the color, but I did like the sound it got. I was thinking about replacing the pickups/hardware when instead I decided to just sell the dang thing.

Oh well.

Still, I wonder how they are selling them so cheap. They are cheaper than even the "elitist" models. I dunno, somehow it just seems fishy.

either way i'd rather get a heritage: more options for semi-hollow bodied guitars.

Haha...I know what you mean. The guitars I bought are not "flawless". But it has taken me two weeks to notice some things. The truss rod covers are not perfectly centered, polepieces and strings are not perfectly aligned on both pickups. Little stuff like that. These may be leftover "irregulars" which didn't make the cut to be $2500.00 John Lee Hooker Models. Don't know for sure.

I can tell you its real nitro finish. I found out the hard way when I bonked one of them against the edge of my desk. The mini humbuckers kick ever loving butt. They have some cajones and are very sensitive to your playing. If you like your tone set when its just breaking up and you can play clean or distorted just by adjusting your picking stle this is THE guitar (or guitars, they both do this perfectly).

I bought the I and II to see which one I liked more and then planned to send the other back. No way, I'm keeping both. They sound too good and play great. I don't know if its the spruce top or mahogany in the neck or the pickups, or just the combo of all three but these guitars are not muddy sounding at all. Simply great rock and blues guitars.

argh... now you are making me want to buy one... but right now i'm selling gear... not buying it. If i get anything new it'll be a new guitar "modern" solid bodied guitar, maybe from jackson or ESP, or even ibanez.

too many choices out there...

Yo SheppardB! Me and Ricki Lee Jones and a host of other recording artists disagree with your sweeping statement about Epiphone. I have news for you. Guitars are (usually) made out of wood. They are like fingerprints, snowflakes, individuals. Not only are there some truly lovely old vintage Epiphones, but some of the newer models, both by the Koreans, and by Americans, are very good guitars. I use a Casino reissue and a slightly tricked out Epi Les Paul Custom, along with a Tele. Going back to my first Gibson Hollow body (sunburst, no center block, 1 P-90, mid position), I just prefer a hollow body to have single coil pickups for the stuff I play. Enjoy the new axe. I expect with the American ones, you probably don't have to change out the pups and wiring, but with the Korean ones, I do.- Richie

Woohooo!! :D :D :D

I'm loving mine. It's the perfect guitar for me.

I have a Behringer ACX1000 I use at church with my acoustic, but I thought I'd try it with my Sheraton and Jekyle & Hyde pedal. What a surprise, it sounded awesome. Perfect "british" sound, very nice presence and chime with light clipping on the top end, add a little bit o' the reverb and chorus...sweetness.

Am I the only one in this thread that knows Eipis are pos?Why in fuck would you waste a grand on one?

Well I just pulled out my Gibson ES-335($1600.00) and Gibson LP Standard($2000.00) for comparison to the Epi Sheraton. I bought them both new a few years ago. I found no flaws in the workmanship in the 335 but found many flaws in the binding and neck inlays(though minor and I had to look really close)on the LP. The attention to detail on the $999.00 Epi Sheraton blows the 2K LP away. Go figure.

I bought an Sheraton about 18 months ago - an asian made one, not sure if it's China or Korea - to replace a stolen Bruno Royal Artist. Blonde with gold trim - I was after a sunburst with chrome but Australia seemed to have had a run on Epis that month, (after a ttrade show) & the only one that could be found was the blonde.
The Sheraton is really nice. It's not my favourite guitar though. Whether played through my Superbass or Jade Clubman it's good but doesn't cut through like the old Bruno did. It's my 1st humbucker guitar so I'm new to that fatter tone. Whilst it's a semi it's really a plank with ears so it's also the closest thing I've had to a solid guitar.
It was an insurance job as I said & between the store & the insurance Co. haggling they got the price down to AUS$1100. The case was extra.
Very versatile, very loud compared to my single coil machines.
Post script I eventually bought a replacement Bruno on eBay for US$220 + US$110 postage + AUS$88 customs.
Cheers
