I saw an unusual micing technique on the discovery channel last night that may be of interest here:
A scientest who was attempting to record spider footsteps inflated a small balloon and inserted a condenser mic in the open end of it to form an air tight seal. He then allowed the spider to walk on the balloon which amplified every nuance of the spiders foot steps way beyond what he'd ever be able to hear with just the mic itself.
I wonder if this has any Potential for any other applications? I doubt its much good for music because the interior of the balloon would probably echo and generate its own color, but it worked quite well for its intended purpose and may be good for something else like an enhanced listening device for surveillance or something. Just thought I'd share.
