Hey guys, tell me whatcha think so far.

It's obviously not a finished product :)

VERY nice. VERY. I like it the way it is. Do you intend on adding more instrumentation?

Thanks Track Rat.

Yea we're planning on getting some violin and strings in there and a lot more vocal harmonies.

Thanks man! i appreciate it.

how's the quality sounding?

obviously its low output for now

I did some backup vocals last night for him.... mix update!!

Very nice. Love the reverb. Only negative - distorted guitar around 3;34, it just sounds like there's too much reverb and it sort of looses definition, but I realise this isn't a finished mix. Everything else is fine. Are they your backing vocals? Very nice. As regards quality, can't fault it at all.

Yea they are my backing vocals (some high notes in there :P) and there is a decent amount of echo on the guitar tracks which i can revisit... but i dont want there to be much definition to those guitars, i just want there to be a presence of energy there and i think the thick relevant noise is doing that pretty well

man very nice voice

tbh this doesnt need anymore instruments...Id even drop the backing vocals, not that they arent good, they just remind me of extremes more than words at parts, the more naked the better this is imho

thanks for sharing

thanks guys!

and kcearl, i agree that it would sound great naked... however the artist, and myself dont want it naked. the version i have up there is not the final version.. they are just some ideas :) so some of those parts might not even be there.

basically he told me to do w/e i want to it after he recorded the guitar/vocals because he wants my influences on it... which is where the electric/ambient/vocal parts came in.

without those parts is completely changes the song (and is kind of boring) without some of those parts to mix it up, in our opinions (myself and the artist).

he and i both like layers ;)

this is so well done. congrats. looking forward to the finished song. is the guitar slap intentional around 2:56?

thanks guys!

i dont think you could hurt the song either way...and the wailing backing vocals nearer the end really give it some depth..its tough critiquing arrangements and not really what the clinics for, its what your hearing thats important

just remember you have an unplugged version for MTV :D

precisely, well spotted ;)

This is really nice, lovely vocals and the song dynamics really work. I wouldn't change the reverb on the guitar distortion - the ambient elements lift the song from being a pretty, but quite commercial folk pop song into something far more interesting.

I wouldn't change anything from here on in to be honest.
