This is probably a dumb question. I have an Audiophile 2496. It has S/PDIF in and out. I don't really know what this is for, is it just a coaxial digital in/out? I'm using the RCA outs cuurrently and I want to hook up an additional reciever I have just to power some big speakers besides monitors, so I can kind of a/b some stuff, as well as just crank up the tunes, you know? Anyway this reciever has a coaxial digital in. Can I just plug this into the S/PDIF out of my card? Can I route the signal in the maudio control panel to go out both outs together? That way I can shoot a signal out to a headphone amp and still use my monitors or speakers without a stupid y-cable or other such nonsense?

I don't know about the M-Audio Control Panel, but I can do this with my Inca88. :)

If the reciever has a S/PDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital Interface) connection then it should be as simple as connecting the cable, and on the Delta Control panel 'Patchbay/Router' tab selecting 'Monitor Mixer' as the source for both 'H/W Out 1/2' and 'H/W Out S/PIDIF'.

You may have to figure out how to set the receiver as slave to the clock of the soundcard. Otherwise it may sound like as...uh, really crappy!
:D :D

Oh course I know NOTHING about your receiver, it might lock automatically when it detects the source. ;)

You may have to make sure that the digital out on the delta is set to 16bit and 44.1khz unless your receiver is capable of higher bit/sample rates.
