Electronica production

Hello,

another thread... I hope this is the right forum to put this in...

I've been trying but can't find any good reference material about producing electronic music ('advanced'/'sophisticated' electronica, if you will. the sort of stuff warp records puts out). I live in south africa, and there's very little knowledge out here. at least, if there is knowledge, people aren't making it available.

so, are there books, websites, documents, forums, etc. that anyone can recommend?

thanks

When I bought my soundcard it came with Abelton Live.
This lets you arrange pre-sampled loops into a grid and play them live. It's actually pretty cool, esp if you're a drummer like me and can't play any real instruments.

Propellorhead Reason is supposed to be good too

Go to acidplanet, and see what is in the electronica section. Some people can come up with some pretty good stuff with loops there. It may appeal to you and give you ideas, and maybe not, but a starting point?

Good luck.
Ed
