just a general question, but does anyone know what kind of gear electro groups like justice or daft punk use to create their sounds? im not a bit electro fan, but they always seem to get some great sounds. i mean aside from synths. could you replicate these kinds of sounds on anything like logic? what do they use to program their drums?
cheer
Im an avid reader of Future music etc amongst other magazines and you'd be amazed that the gear bands use is the same stuff you can have in your own room..
Software like Ableton, Reason and/or Logic all seem to be a mainstay...NI's
Maschine seems to be pretty popular...I think I was reading an article on one producer that owns all the Roland drum machines but uses samples anyway as he doesn't want to break them....lol made me laugh anyway (D16 have some fantastic offerings, I use puremagnetiks kits myself in Live)
I see Axioms and MPDs used pretty frequently as controllers but obviously there is a lot more $$$ for hardware synths..
Software samplers have pretty much taken over hardware samplers from what I can see...and everyones got at least Kontakt, HALion or Reason running...Ableton has a great Sampler as well at around $99
I read a Drum and Bass special (CM mag I think) and just about everyone in there was using logic...very little hardware was being used at all, not the same genre but not far of it
so in short...yes, you can replicate anything in your home that Daft Punk etc are doing, as the chances are its the same software
