Electrical safety question

This is probably a stupid question. I'm now acquiring gear for my small bedroom studio and of course, every component whether PC, nearfield monitors, mixer, etc., etc. has a power cord, some with transformers. I now have enough components to fill a couple of power bars and although I s'pose a breaker will trip if the circuit is overloaded, I'm wondering about the safety of having so much plugged into an electrical wall outlet. Is this a concern and how much does the quality of a power bar matter (and I s'pose it should be one with surge protection)? Any makes/specs that should be considered when buying a power bar/surge protector?

You should be fine aslong as you have enough wall sockets to plug adapters into. If your short of wall sockets and you start plugging a 5 socket adapter into another 5 socket, thats when it can start to become dangerous. Your going to want to protect your equipment like you say by having surge protectors, theres nothing else i can really add to it. i have 3 wall sockets with 3x5 adapters running from each. All of which have surge protectors.

That will work fine, thats how mines been for over a year and ive never had any shocks, damage to my equipment or anything else. (touch wood!)

Good luck :)

Thanks. Ok, just to confirm my understanding, as long as you don't 'daisy chain' the power bars/surge protectors, therefore having each plugged into its own outlet, there should be no problems.
