egg carton for acustics?

I made myself a pretty hat from egg cartons once. I call myself gobo-boy.

Dare I say it might have also been the carpet padding that was helping with the dimished reflections? Ive used layers of carpet padding to get rid of reflections in areas of the apartment temporarily (high-end frequencies, of course - you'd need about 40 layers of padding to diminish sub frequencies :D)
 
Yeah, I'm sure it was the combination; but since our original problem was the drummer's vocal mic feeding back (pulling down the 6.3k slider on a graphic EQ to -15 dB barely stopped it) and since the egg carton PDF shows high absorption at that range, I tend to "monday morning quarterback" the cause to (mainly) the egg cartons.

Actually, any urine-soaked second-hand mattress would have accomplished the same thing for that purpose, and I'm not using THOSE either :=) Steve
 
The first home made booth I made had a shitload of egg cartons, and believe me, they took a hell of alot of reverb away and even warmed up the sound. But I still don't recommend them :P

Best to go out and get some foam.
