Effects Processor with an acoustic amp?

I use a Boss GT 5, Carvin electric and a Dual Rectifier with 2X12 cabinet. No problems here, but using this amp monster in small clubs is a pain due to weight and space. I also have a Behringer ACX1000 acoustic amp that I use with my ovation. I've been experimenting running the GT5 into the acoustic amp (with amp effect presets bypassed).
1) GT5 main out to amp guitar in. (basic)
2) GT5 main out to amps effect return
3) GT5 return to amps effect send, GT5 main output to amps effect return.
The Behringer has 2 channels: one that caters to guitars with piezo the other for mic or another instrument. I've only tried into the first channel.

Are there any dangers into using an acoustic amp in this fashion?
Would like more suggestions, experiences.
Thanx

I am not enough of an electronic technical guy to awnser the "danger" portion but I have used a smiliar solution as I have a large bass rig that is too big for small settings as well (plus a pain to load and set up).

What I expereimented with was using my SansAmp Bassdriver DI through a small Peavey practice amp and other cheap house amps.

Option 1 - Go through the amps guitar in using the amps preamp set fairly low.

Advantage - I have more control over stage volume.
Disadvantage - The cheaper Peavey pre-amp (I like some Peavey stuff but this is a cheap practice amp) degraded the better sounding SansAmp preamp.

Option 2 - Go out the SansAmp into the effects return bypassing the built in pre of the practice amp.

Advantage - Much better sound.
Disadvantage - I had no control of the stage volume other than on the SansAmp...the SansAmp pre went straight to the power amp and it took a little tweeking to to get the SansAmp level not too hot for the sound system but at a good stage level.

Eventually I founf option 2 the best solution by far and tilted the cabinet back pointing up toward my ears.

I don't have any expereince with your pedal but have looked at in online and I would look at the manual as it looks fairly feature packed for both recording and live playing. There should be some ways to optimize using it as either a stomp box for effects and added distortion or volume boost etc or as your dedicated preamp for all your sound coloration and just used the power amp of your "acoustic amp".

My only other concern is I definately do not like distortion in my bass or acousticly amplified instruments. Some speakers for guitar amps are built for and "voiced" for distortion and I tyically would not want loud distorted signals coming out through my bass speakers or say like an expensive Trace Elliot acoustic guitar amp to protect the natural voice of my speaker.

With something like the Behringer I would not be as worried but it depends on how much you rely on it for your acoustic work it may subtley affect the speaker if you pump out loud distorted electric guitar throught it.
