How ironic. Just as I left this thread, I saw an ad for TFPro gear from a *paying* advertiser. (attached)

No Confusion on the market here. It is quite obvious that Joemeek is now the P1 Ted Fletcher box, but that is OK to do...

Hmmmmmmmm.................I wonder what reason that company has for prefacing all the TFPro gear with the Joe Meek name.

Hey Geoff... I wasnt implying that I could make one in any shape or form. That would be instant disaster.
But, I am going to request that you email me your address, with a parts list, and I will buy all the parts, package them up, mail them to you with $100, and you can make me a nice two channel compressor. :)
my email address is paul@demokingproductions.com

Mine can be your prototype :)
Something along a Distressor style will be just fine. I want some iron in it too, I think.

Ask Dan Kennedy to review his box and have a look inside!

I've seen inside one, and the only thing prettier is the inside of the, ummm, damn... cant remember the frigging name to save my life. The silver faced preamp that everyone recommends around here as a real clean preamp, also sold as a double unit. MF carried them for awhile, about $550. Shit I really cant recall the name to save my life.
Whats wrong with me. Someone help me remember before I snap a blood vessel.

...Of course you can surprise all of us by showing us your EE degree and some products you have designed and built.
I certainly do not intend to come across like I’m taking sides here, because I’m not - But I had to pop in and say that as far as ability is concerned having an EE doesn’t automatically make someone a knowledgeable designer. In my 20 years of professional experience in the electronics field, at least half of the engineers I’ve worked with did not hold college degrees, but most (not all, but ‘most’) of them were “movers and shakers”. They were the ones who quickly came up with great working designs that made the companies I worked for untold amounts of money. At the same time there were highly degreed engineers sitting right next to them that were thrown out the door because they couldn’t design squat without it being costly and full of holes. No need to tell you which one I would hire if I needed a design engineer.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m not saying having an EE is a bad thing because I also know a lot of good EE degreed designers too. I’m just saying that in my experience, having an EE degree doesn’t make you any better or worse a designer.

Just thought I’d throw in my $0.02 here... :)

It's been like that at most places I worked at over the years too.

What product did you designed all by yourself? Years ago I worked on our 455 (tank radar system)... I didn't design it, but I came up with some idea's that where added... so can I say that I helped design the 455 like you do with the B1?

Alan didn't design the B1 microphone-only the bomber. (just kidding)

I guess I don't remember the part where Alan has ever claimed to have designed anything all by his lonesome. On the contrary, he usually proudly proclaims who collaborated with him and his staff. I'd love to see a link from you, but then you usually don''t let evidence get in the way of a good argument.

I've been using the TFpro Edward the Compressor long enough to know I'm going to give it a "RECOMMENDED" rating. It might get a "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED." It's kind of on the border right now with me. We're going to use it on some mixes soon by a guy with an AE degree of all things. :)

Well, I've got a MS in Mathematics. That and four dollars will get me a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Everybody has probably contributed a snotty, infantile post to a discussion board at one time or another. But... Alan Hyatt has contributed so many that I have determined never to buy a friggin thing from his company. He has offended my sensibilities and polluted this board.

I think your right, so I have no argument... I don't think Alan has designed anything either... I think he just provides cash and maybe some idea's here and there... but his main gig is sales.

And who the fuck are you that anybody should care what you think?

Well, I have a BS in Accounting, Minor in English, and an AA in Journalism, and I still like to pick my nose and eat the boogers...

...in public.:D

Yum!

Is the snarling dog thing your regular persona, Dethska, or do you save it for discussion boards?
