Edit while playing back

I never used to have this problem, but now when I record enable a track, record it, then after recording want to play it back and edit while playing, I have to turn off the record enable.
The red R changes to a flashing red P


Does anyone know how to stop this at all, I don't mind deselecting the R but it can sometimes be a pain?

Is this isolated to a certain project? Or is it across all Logic projects? And what do you mean by "edit" - what is the exact function you are trying to do while the tracked is record enabled?

Yeah....edit is very broad... and your track doesn't necessarily need the record enable clicked either...if you just select the input button and press record Logic does it automatically.

Like add a plug-in or change the settings of a plugin while playing etc.

It seems to be across all projects.

I am just being lazy by not deselecting it but it's still a pain

Hmm... I've never encountered this problem before. What does it do when you try to add a plugin or change the settings? Are you sure your tracks aren't just frozen?
