Echo MiaMIDI or..?

Hello,

I am using M-Audio DUO and want to switch to PCI based recording soundcard. ('cos the DUO sound no good and the driver sucks)

I am thinking about Echo MiaMIDI, but it only have 2 analog in and 2 analog out, my question is how can I use my headphone AND monitor for monitoring and mixing? If I assign that pair of analog out to my monitors then i have no headphone out. Is the Echo MiaMIDI supposed to work with an additional soundcard which have headphone output?

Other suggestion is welcome. My need is PCI based, 2 analog inputs (mic pre is not needed) and at least 2 analog outputs, good driver support, and reliable. Scalability is a plus. Flexible routing software is a big plus! MIDI in-out is also a plus~!

Budget is flexible... I mean I just need 2 inputs, 2 inputs soundcard will not
be very expensive right...?

Even the latest driver of the DUO is bad. The sound always drop while using MME mode, in ASIO mode it is okay though.

Common sense says that if one major manufacturer's audio interface is THAT troublesome, switching won't solve the problem.

What software are you using that forces you not to use ASIO mode?

HOw do you figure? The M Audio Quattro and Duo were both problematic for many people. The Mia, on the other hand, is very reliable.
 
My MAudio Duo never gave me a problem. But then I'm not 'many people' I guess...

I am using Tracktion which works fine with the DUO (ASIO), however when I use Media player or iTunes I have to switch to MME driver, which give me trouble to play mp3, wav or other media files smoothly...

I have the Echo Mia Midi. I just run out of the analog outs into my headphone amp, and out of the headphone amp main outs into my moniters. By the way, the Mia has four ins/outs when you include spdif.
 
Just to add, you could use the Echo's digital outs for your moniters (or your headphone amp) if you have access to a D/A converter.

Thanks for the reply. But I don't have a D/A convertor nor headphone amp..
So is that possible to use the MidMIDI with other soundcard? I read their manual but it doesn't mention about that. I don't know if it is capable to do that.

BTW, what do you think about the sound quality and the flexible/stability of their mixer software and driver?

How much money do you want to spend? I own and love my Echo Gina24 - great sound at a good price point. Has 2 ins, 8 outs and a headphone jack with volume. Think you can get them for about $300 (or less on eBay). No MIDI though.
