Sorry if this is a repeat question - I searched but couldn't find it previously posted. Using an Echo Mia, I'm recording a mono vocal track. (Using Cool Edit Pro - but I think this is a hardware issue rather than an issue with the program). So, naturally I plug my cable into either input of the Mia, set CEP to record a mono track from whichever input I'm using and start singing. Here's the problem - I can only hear the signal through that one side. In other words, if I plug into the right input, I can only hear the signal through the right headphone. Everything playing back is stereo, just not the input signal. Anyone know how I can solve this without getting a "Y" cable? Thanks for your help.

Are you talking about hearing the mono signal through the right headphone during recording or during playback?

If you are using input monitoring (via the mia mixer) when recording then you can use the pan controls in the mia mixer. Pan the right input signal to the middle and you will hear it on both sides.

If the problem is with playing back a recorded mono signal check that cool edit is recording a mono track and not a stereo track. EDIT - whoops I see that you have done that.

I'm confused with recording/monitoring on MIA too.

Please advise if I understand it correctly....:)

MIA has 2 INs, therefore, you can record, for example, a mic and guitar track simultaneously but in mono (one left one right).

When recording mic via Mia's IN1 (by routing an output of the preamp to IN1), I will get a mono track on left channel.

Connecting Mia's OUT1 to an amplifier and out to speakers, I'm supposed to hear my voice on the left speaker, right? Unless, I use an audio software (in this case, CEP) to pan it to the middle, then I can hear it on both sides.

And one more question...Is MIA gonna work well with Logic 5.1 (run on XP) for audio recording? Kinda curious...

Well, alfalfa - that did it. Simple as it was I had the left and right ins panned full left and right and never realized that was the problem. I sure appreciate you taking the time to help! Thanks.
