I have an echo Mia sound card connected to my dell computer. My mic preamp is connected to the left and right input plugs and my speakers are connected to my left and right output plugs. How do I hook up a pair of headphones I'm all out of plug in wholes?

I'm assuming your monitors are active, since you don't have an amp in there before your speakers....

If you had a mixer, you could route your outs through it and use the headphone jack there. (Thats one advantage of using a mixer..)

Or you could get a headphone amp and use one of the outputs to go to your speakers.

Or you could try doing some Y-cables off the outs to each (but you're going to need a headphone amp anyway to drive the phones, they cant just be plugged into the soundcard.)

Personally if I were you I'd be looking for a mixer...

IM AN IDIOT....I have a heaphone amp but I never thought to plug my speakers into it. DUHH. Thanks

I ran my monitors through my headphone amp. But how do I get my headphones to play through both ears?

One 1/4"output jack on the Mia is for the right, the other 1/4" output jack is for the left.
(2 monos make one stereo....)

There is an explicit diagram in the owners manual (and it's on-line at their website.)

Thanks :).I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A MIXER I HAD WHEN I FIRST STARTED RECORDING ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. I'T ADDED NOISE TO MY RECORDINGS. I DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER SO I ASSUMED ALL MIXERS ADDED NOISE TO MIC RECORDINGS.LOL. WHEN I GOT RID OF IT EVERYTHING SOUNDED WONDERFUL. THATS WHY I'M A LITTLE APPREHENSIVE. WELL....I'M GUITAR CENTER BOUND. LOL .THANKS AGAIN

Left and right from Card out into Amp.

Left and right from amp out to Monitors.

4 - 1/4" jacks up front for headphones.

This will let you adjust both headphone and monitor volumes.

If your amp is anything like this your set.

If not buy the presonus, its very nice and priced well...

Easiest thing is to go to Guitar Center and get a $50 Behringer mixer to run the outs from the Mia to. Then the outs from that to the monitors, and the headphones from the mixer as well.

Since the sound is already on the way out, it's not going to color the recordings.
