Okay I think the original got corrupted because it was taking forever to submit and then I hit back and I got the "there are too many people logged in" message. So it must have posted the subject but no thread.

Basically, what happened was I just picked up a MOTU 2408 MKII on ebay that was advertised as "NEW IN BOX". Had some trouble installing last night if you saw my post, but I got it up and running and everything seems to check out. The only thing is one of the Meter lights is out. Now I know it's not THAT big of a deal and I'm probably nitpicking, but when something says "NEW IN BOX" along with "took it out only to make sure it worked", I expect to know about something like this in the auction.

Maybe that's just the risk you take on ebay. Has anybody had experiences like this? What have you done? asked for a refund? left bad feedback?

I could maybe try to fix it myself but don't really wanna break the sucker open. I do have the warranty card, so maybe MOTU could take care of it. Of course, that would involve sending it out to them (an inconvenience that shouldn't be required if it really is "NEW IN BOX".

Check out the auction and pic and tell me what yall think.

edit: The photo is one that I took when I received it. There was no such photo in the auction.

I would definatley leave bad feedback.
If you bought it new from the store, I'm sure you would like to know before you bought it. And if there was a problem, you'd bring it back and question them about it.
Same thing here. Even though it's a little thing, it's part of the product that doesn't work, and the customer needs to know it beforehand.

Is it the same light that appears off on the picture?
If yes, then you would probably get no cooperation from the seller... :(

I should have specified...The link to the picture is a picture that I TOOK MYSELF after receiving and hooking up the box. The only picture on the auction was the Promotional photo from the MOTU website.

I don't think I should leave bad feedback before first asking them about it. But what should I say? Should I ask for $ back for what it costs to fix it? Or should I just fill out that warranty card and send it to MOTU?

I would at least contact the seller.

But if it's still under warranty, then send it back to MOTU! That seems most logical to me.

Maximum what the seller can possibly offer you is the refund. In this case shipping expenses both ways will most likely be yours.

Before anything else I would suggest to make sure that MOTU will honor the warranty, which many companies provide only to the original owner. Since this was a display unit, you have a chance of convincing MOTU that you ARE the original owner.

So, if the unit is covered - have it fixed by MOTU. It may happen to be something as simple as faulty led.

If turns out that you have no warranty, then go press the seller.

Hmmm...I just bought a Q10 off of ebay. The cakewalk CD wont install...it gets an error during the install(im using cubase sx anyways) and after a while the virtual mixer turns inactive and I have to restart for it to work again. This uncommon?

Trogdor, be sure and keep us posted on how all this turns out.
