I just picked up a Tascam USB 122 Interface. I want to know when recording the electric guitar what is the best way to go? What are the routes I can take? Do I run cables from my amp into my interface. Or should I just run the mics through the interface and record my amp?? This is my first of any type of recording so I am still a rookie. The mics I picked up were the Audio-technica 2020 and the 2021. Thanks for the feedback, peace.

Do I run cables from my amp into my interface.

DO NOT, I repeat do not run anything from your "speaker" outs to your interface. A line out will work but may not sound very good.
Depending on what your interface has, you typically would go Mic/mic pre/soundcard or interface. Your Interface may have a built in mic pre so it may just be mic/interface.

The prefered way of recording is to use one of your mics to mic the amplifier. Run the mic into one of the XLR inputs of the Tascam and the usb out to your pc.........now you're jammin.

:)

good luck
