I have recently switched from protools to cubase. I find that sometimes even the most simple of tasks are a bit hard to figure out on cubase (or maybe its just me). On protools, I was able to draw volume and panning in using lines on the audio tracks I wanted but I have not figured out how to do this on cubase. Can anyone help me with this problem which I am sure is simple and I am just overlooking something obvious. Also, on protools I could highlight a bit of an audio track and then apply an effect on what I selected leaving the rest of the track unaffected. Is this possible to do on cubase? If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks

well, it's not as if that would be a step backward is it?

I dont see much differene between ProTools or Cubase.

I think that there is a big difference between protools and cubase. I feel like cubase has a steep learning curve. I am hoping that it will pay off though once I get better with what I am doing. I switched to cubase because I got a delta 1010 which works real well with cubase. I found out the answer to my question. Its all about the automation. I think it is very true all the stories about people going to bed with the manual. The more I work with cubase the more I learn. Just hopefully it will become a bit more intuitive.

Sneil, IMO you're right about Cubase, while it takes a little while to feel like you're comfortable with Cubase you do get there eventually. Taking the manual to bed with ya is a great idea and also join the forums over at cubase.net.
