Easiest Floyd Song/Solo

"Mother" is the first solo that I ever learned, and I also think it is the easiest solo to Re-create by Gilmore that sounds accurate enough.

One thing to consider about some David Gilmour/Pink Floyd guitar parts is, not all of them were played on a regular guitar, but either a lap steel or pedal steel guitar. When I bought the DVD of Making Of Dark Side Of The Moon, I finally realized why there's a lot of Gilmour parts that I can't replicate on my regular 6-string guitars.

One of my favorites to play, on guitar, is "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" (from A Saucerful Of Secrets), while on bass I like to play "Money," "In The Flesh" ann "Another Brick In The Wall Part 2." I'm a bit on the "sacreligious" side, though, when it comes to playing "Another Brick In The Wall Part 2," as I don't use drop D tuning for it.

Thanks for all the replies, but Im finding all this tab that is completely inaccurate and confusing. Most are too fast for me to play unless someone shows me how. And im not good enough to tab them myself. Ill get my teacher to tach me either Money or Comfortably Numb

That's a good point. In fact, in one of the cuts on the new solo record there appears to be a 6-string lead track that morphs into a pedal steel track, back and forth woven together. I think it my be the song "The Blue." The result is very cool.

My wife and I flew down to LA to see him on this last solo tour since she never got to see Pink Floyd. You are abolutely right on about the lap steel parts. His new album uses it quite a bit as well. He was incredible that night, he'd be jamming on his guitar, put it down and saddle up to one of like three slide guitars he had at on stage, rip out some killer riffs, then pop back on the strat to finish off the song. Half the night was his solo album, the rest was Floyd from Pipers up to Division Bell. Having Richard Wright sitting in on keys made it all the more sweet.

He has the ability to invoke such emotion and different character of sound in his playing. He is truly a great. One of the best concerts I have ever been to.
