Easier way for drums?

I've recorded drums a few times now and i've always did a scrap track with the drummer and than kept the scrap track for the drummer to follow and play the full song. But I heard you can play the drums in parts and than put it together, I did google a few things but found useless crap about buying software. I'm using Cubase SX 3.0, so if someone can tell me the tool that does this, and the right way of doing it. It would be great.

Thanks

It's just the simple case of getting the drummer to play it in different parts, then you editing it all together.

In Cubase get the scissors and cut the track parts where you want it to start/end and just stick it together. Zoom in nice and close to make sure you can edit it nice and clean.

If your drummer is good, he/she should be able to play each part, and then if need be, stop. Play from where they left off, and he/she can join back in.

Yeah It must take some practice, is it better to do this? or is just a preference?

And sorry for double post, but what if you want to record the verse and then the chorus. But there is a symbol hit before going in, wouldn't it cut off and lead it to sound unfinished?
