That's a good idea. Harvey, do you think these DPA's are a good solution? Sadly I don't have much time any more to experement. It seems strange a lapel mic would get so much acclaim, but perhaps they're really the shizzle.
The DPA's are truly great mics, but there are some lower cost solutions:

Sound Room Oktava MC012's with all three capsules.
Studio Projects C4's with cardioid and omni capsules
MXL 604's with cardioid and omni capsules

Between X-Y or a Jecklin disk, you should get great results with any of the above mics.

I had never heard of a jecklin disk, heres a link for others ignorant in this regard:

a couple of interesting quotes from the above link:

For recording with the Jecklin disc, sound pressure microphones must always be used, i.e. "real" sound pressure microphones. Mircophones with a switchable directional characteristic, insofar as they are designed as double diaphragm microphones, may not be used.

When the disc is being used, the optimum distance from the sound source is larger than it is the case of any other recording technique. The disc must, however, be located within the diffuse-field distance of the room (the diffuse-field distance is the distance at which the direct sound from the source and the diffuse sound portion of the room are equal). The exact postion and the correct distance from the sound source, however, must always be determined by ear. :

So not exactly a close micing technique

I PROMISE YOU they are the bomb for acoustic music. I can provide a TON of references to attest to that fact, as well as sound clips to back up my claims. I have used dpa4022s, neumann u89s, m269, m294, AKG 480s, earthworks, pretty much a lot of the high end mics. The DPA 4060s are in my top 3 ever.

here are some clips:

rock music:http://www.sportmetrics.com/um/um.dpa.riff.flac

If you need help playing flac files, PM me and I will show you how. The first ones are mp3 though.

Again, I can almost GUARANTEE that you will be happy with the jdisc/ dpa 4060 setup. The LAV mic thing is of no consequence at all. I can tell you at least 25 people off the top of my head who are archivists/recordists/engineers who use the DPA 4060s for recording.

Thanks for the clips! Those do sound pretty good. Do you have a picture of your JDisk and 4060 set up? BTW the diaphrams are supposed to be 8 inches apart with the jdisk inbetween right? I think I read that some where.

I do have a picture of the jdisc...I DO have one with the 4060s attached, As far as placement..experiment..buck the system, use what works for you, I have gotten great results using mine, the best recordings i have ever made.I say that with 100% honesty. In my opinion, there is no other way to record acoustic music.
