Ears,

I saw that you have and are using a Mindprint En Voice with your VS-1680. Can you give me feedback on that mic pre? I am looking to purchase it, but I don't know. Do you have the digital I/O? Have you had any locking problems to your VS-1680? Please let me know.

THanks,

Actually I don't use or didn't buy the Dimod option.
As far as the unit is concerned, it is extremely quiet with ample eq. Transparent THATVCA compressor and dial in tube. You can go tube or solidstate, or inbetween so nothing has to sound the same.I tried Bellari, ART (still have the MP) Digitech and found that this unit was far superior, a little more money.
I am told that the VS1680's dig in port does not agree with a few of the Pre amps that have digital converters on board. A mod has to be done, to make it compatible. I have never seen the reason at this point to purchase the DIMOD unit, as the Mic Pre is a Class A quiet as a mouse unit. It also does a great job with instruments as well.
I use the Mic pre with my condensers and Dynamics, the instrument input for bass and electric guitars, and the line input from the aux of the VS1680, if I want to doctor any existing tracks. When I changed from the ART unit to this one, I was amazed at how professional my recordings grew. I only wish I could afford 2 to control the mix analog instead of digital. Try one out first. I was not sold until I played with the unit a bit.
