This is an early mix of this tune. I have some things to do with panning, EQ, and some volume issues on a few parts, but for the most part, the song is well on its way. Comments appreciated.

There's a loud pop at 1:03 and 1:45, and another softer one at 3:12 and 4:26. Maybe it's the headphones I'm using but I swear I heard a bunch through out the song, real soft ones though.

Other than just smoothing out the volumes, I think it's a nice song and some good guitar work.. But the mix sounded dark to me. Not a lot going on in the mids and highs on my headphones or speakers.

I'm sure the pros here will have more mix comments.

I'd love to hear more like this though.

pops

I think the pops were caused by some screen redraws. Usually this is not a problem, and if I restart my computer thay seem to disappear.

I thought the mix was a bit dark also. Glad to hear someone else caught that. We will definitely work on the EQ. Perhaps running it through T-Rax would even help.

There is also a section where the classical guitar bursts in too loud. We're aware of that too. All in all though, it's ok for getting started. I just like to have input before I put countless hours into the mix.

There are a few small sections in the guitar work to be fixed as well.

Thanks for listening and the kind words.

My first thought is that it's very boomy in the low end and indistinct in the high end. Just my opinion, but I'd work on getting the eq a little more solid in the mix rather than turning to mastering software. T-racks isn't going to fix this for you - some good eq work will.

You've got some good stuff to work with here. You just gotta settle into those "countless hours."

EQ it is

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll start taking a look at this track by track and make some decisions about where I need everything to lie in the mix. Unfortunately, I was born with only one good ear (terrible thing for a musician), and so I need to rely on other to give me a picture of the toal sonic experience. That's why this group is so valuable to me.

Thanks again.
