I mostly record just for fun, and just for the sake of having fun. Anyway, back in October last year (2005), a local cover band approached me to make a cheap demo for them, and I was more than happy to do it. They were very happy with the finished CD, and just for curiosity's sake, I would like to get some opinions from some of you with a lot more experience than me on how good (or bad) of a job I did.

Thanks,
Gary

First of all you have the right attitude. It is fun to do this and after all it is Home recording

First impressions.

Eagles.
Very Good clean guitar tone.
Good vocals.
I am not very familiar with this tune. I think I heard them do it on the recent Eagles last tour. I am more familiar with the classic oldie eagles stuff.
Overall, sounds good to me.

Beatles.
Good guitar tone here too.
Overall very good cover.

Keep up the good work and keep having fun. Post more tunes when you can.

Really enjoyed the Beatles cover.Nice tone you got going on there with the guitars, what did you use?...vocals real nice as well.Good job!

I recorded these guys in their practice room live on a Fostex VF-160. The drums were mixed on a Behringer MX2004a mixer with the outputs sent to 2 channels on the Fostex. Bass guitar was sent through a BBE DI-100x direct to the Fostex. Both Guitars and keyboard amps were miked with SM57's straight to the Fostex. I added very small amount of reverb to everything, and on the beatles tune, I added flanger to the lead guitar. I was happy with the way their vocals sounded on their PA, so I just took the signal from the tape out of their PA.

I'm sure I broke a lot of the rules, but my only real rule is to make it sound as best as I can with what I have.

Oh, and I did clean it up quite a bit on my computer too.
