Im using 2 BM5a powered studio monitors. Im running an amp simulator thru them (Axefx).

Im able to run at fairly high volumes and notice that on lower bass notes I get quite a bit of clipping (red light flashing on the speakers)

It doesnt actually sound like its clipping/distorting but Im worried about the clip light flashing on and off regularly.

Would using a subwoofer help to eliminate this problem?
thanks

You could try filtering off the low end. That would be similar to what it would see if it was being fed just the low mids and up from a sub controller cross over.

Sustained, maybe distorted, guitar? It's just a pair of 5's and tweets right?
I don't in fact know, but I'd be cautious. This ain't a 10" Jensen.

You could shelve (slope) everything below 100hz, that will help. The real problem is you have it turned up too loud, these are small studio monitors not a guitar quad box.

Cheers
