Does it make a difference which effect type to use DX versus VST ?
Is there any advantage on over the other, like resources used ?
I DL the new Black Cat Freeware packs in both formats, but before I install the DX version on my PC, should I ?

on the one hand DX is an old standard and i'ld just not get caught up in it at this late date... that being said if your prog supports them still no ones gonna spank ya if ya do...

err...uh....DX is a format developed for Cakewalk products primarily. Vst was developed by Steinberg (Cubase) and has become the popular norm for those using PC applications other than ProTools (TDM, RTAS formats).
DX and VST formats hit the streets at about the same time and are equally useable, given the appropriate platform or wrapper software. VST has nudged ahead in terms of popularity based on the number of programmers whose software is compatible with it's format. It's kind of a VHS vs Beta idea, both are fine but the public chose VHS.
