Hi everyone,

I just got for an early birthday present a DVD Recorder. I can get really good audio recordings on it. And lots of them (Up to 6 hours on one DVD) I was just wondering if anyone else had tried to use one of these for strictly audio recording.

Well, I used one of the audio component CD recorders to record band practice one time. I assume that's what you are talking about, just the DVD one. We used two condensor mic's in the room - SM-81's I think, into an Audiobuddy, then into the CD cutter.

It didn't sound bad at all, we didn't put too much throught into where the mics were (it was just a rough recording).

My feeling at the time was that the A-D conversion wasn't all that great, but I can't really remember *why* I thought that, or if it was just a general feeling...

Depending on what you have in mind, sure, your DVD burner could be good.

Note that I am a home recording guy, ADAT, Tampa pre, Groove Tubes AM61 mic, Octava MC012, Blue Tube pre, AKG C1000, level stuff.
