Hi....was asked to learn this song for a bbq/bonfire party this weekend...after downloading the tab and messing with it for awhile..I started to think this would be a cool one to mangle :D...so this is what I came up with ....its a 1st mixdown..and my ears are kinda burnt so wondering how it sounds to better ears ...

That was great!!!!:D The mix was a little muddy and there seemed to be a loss of timing around the 2:00 mark but, I really enjoyed a new take on an old chestnut:D

I like the music part of the song...sounds really cool however i dont really like the vocals.

Thanks bud! Yeah, the guitar solo was kinda done on the fly without much planning...I think thats the part your talking about at that time..I may redo it, not sure cause I kinda dig the feel of it overall...
Thanks for listening!

Thanks man, yeah I can't sing worth a crap...just tried to not be so timid this time around...I did try to sing it more like the original...and it sounded much much worse ( if ya can believe that :p)...Kansas's vocalist Steve Walsh, was really incredible back in the day!

Thanks for the listen!

I don't know the song but Kansas, REO Chuckwagon, Journey etc weren't much listened to down under.
I like what you've done musically and the Wire meets PiL vocals have a certain j'ne c'est qua?
Cool bananas queepy!

Hi Ray, REO Chuckwagon :p I like that! It's funny, growing up in the midwest US in the late 70's early 80's, you were kinda force fed a steady diet of REO, Journey, Styx,Kansas...so it kinda gets imbued into your sou...although Kansas , had the most ambitious musical moments out of the lot imho...lots of proggy moments up to the "Point Of No Return" album, which was there big commercial album...I was actually pretty happy with the vocals on this one...need to look up the definition of "j'ne c'est qua", but I really dig PiL but Lydon is one of my fav vocalist so it can't be bad in my book :D...
Thanks as always Ray, appreciate your comments!

Wasn't sure what the take would be ;) but I liked it right away! The music is great and the solos are pure, classic, variaxman. The two (or more?) vocal tracks are slightly out of sync. I'm not sure how well anyone can double this style of vocals - as they don't follow a melody as strictly as say the orig would. I would take my favorite vocal track and try cloning/delaying it to see if you can get that same fat sound with more Police (syncronicity - lol). Definitely worth a try - this one is classic!

I know the song, first time I heard it was in Philippines, I dug it at once.

I dug this as well.

GregL should hear this, he would love it too.

Nicely played, I think it actuallly works.

even if the original is tearwet:D, this one has more balls to it:D

thanks for the listen mate:)

Nbudinich: Fantastic!!! I love this kinda stuff. Well done queepy.

Thanks man! Glad ya dug it!

Thanks bud...yeah..there is actually just one lead vocal track...and a whole buncha backing tracks...for some reason I just can't get the "Queen" sound I'm going for :p....I'm thinking I might try your idea with the lead vocal...and maybe cut a few of the backing vocal tracks out...going to work on the mix as well because I really don't like the bass guitar at all...may redo the whole bass track .....thanks for listening and the feedback...helps a lot!!
