Duplication

Ok, I'm finishing up recording this local band, any advice on what I should watch out for sending this thing out for duplication. I've read about too many error's and what not, cd rejected etc.. Are they referring to just digital overs on the stereo master tracks or what?

You need to burn the disk with out turnning off the laser even once.
In short - burn using the disk at once option or else the mastering place will
reject you cd.

Any time the laser will stop it will cause a small inconsistency on your cd.
Although you can still play it on your player, for the mastering proccess it is considered a fatel error.
 
A little research will go a long way....

Try to find out where the band is going to duplicate and talk to there people. Ask them if they can accept TAO disks, or just DAO disks. Many duplicators now will accept TAO disks and not charge extra for making them ready for the glass master. It has to do with there hardware for copying the CDR you supply.

Block errors are the main culprit. If they reject the disk, well, burn another and send it. When I master something for a client, I guarantee the mastered disk to pass muster, or I will burn another and send it for free. I haven't had any rejects yet. If you have a decent burner, you won't either.

Also, make sure you supply the PQ Time sheet with the master. If you supply it, there is much less of a chance that the duplication house will mess with the disk.
