Humbucking pups are just as punk as single coils.

Sure, but a JB is a LOT hotter than a classic humbucker.

Of course, I just ordered a set of Lindy Fralin Unbuckers that I'm going to try in a guitar I'm working on right now, and if they sound the way I expect them to, they will probably be my new favorite pickups. But there again, I'm ordering them with a fairly vintage output, a 7.5K for the neck, and an 8.5K for the bridge.

JB's are up around 16.5K, and the Invader bridge is even hotter (oh, and the Invader sounds like ass, but that is a whole other thing - talk about a shit pickup from a good manufacturer). This drives your amp a lot more than I want, at least for what I consider to be a "classic" punk sound.

I live right down the street from a music store.

Kinda like you know how Jared lived almost right next door to Subway. Just a short walk.
Yeah right okay.

I personally don't see any problem with using a JB for punk. All this talk about classic punk tone seems to suggest that there were no such people as Mick Jones, Steve Jones or Sylvian Sylvain. Humbucking pups are just as punk as single coils. Did I actually type that last sentence? Now I feel kind of silly. Oh well...
...small

Sure but those guys didn't have mega-gain amps. Mick Jones' or Steve Jones' raunchiest tone is pretty tame compared to what todays pickups and amps can muster. You mention Sylvain Sylvain. Uh, he just strummed chords for the NY Dolls. Johnny Thunders was the tone of that band, and he used P-90's, mostly.

I'm gonna post a sample of my guitar sound within the next few days. Most of you may not care either way... but...

I THANK YOU.

If I ever said I want a classic punk sound then punch me in the face with a drippy vagina.

I just want feedback from people who've used a JB for Punk Rock. It worked for me.. THANK YOU>
