Duet vs Ensemble, budget choices

Hi everyone, Ive been looking for a good interface and I know now that I want an apogee.
The thing is i have around a $ 2000-2200 budget and I have two options.
1. Apogee ensemble + shure sm57 + sony mdr-7506 headphones
2. Apogee duet + shure sm57 + sony mdr-7506 headphones + royer 121

Since im not recording a whole band at this moment i came up with that idea.
My father OTOH says, "well, how good can it be buying a $ 600 interface and plugging a $ 1300 microphone on it?".

That could translate to "Go and read about it, or... lets buy the 2000 one and lets save up some money so we can buy the mics and stuff in the future"

What do you think ?
Is the duet a good interface for the royer ? (converters, preamps)
Or should i think about the ensemble and be prepared in case my projects start growing gradually?
Thanks!

I'm fairly sure the converters are the same for both the duet and ensemble. I would just buy the ensemble in case (like you said) your projects start growing. You can never have too many mics. You only need one converter, so why risk upgrading from the duet?

Yeaaah ty and obviously i have an apple and a grape, etc.
Seriously I have an imac, so theres no prob.
Ill try to save up for the ensemble.

In my opinion, everything that Apogee makes is golden! A buddy of mine owns a duet and it sounds phenomenal! I would still say go for the ensemble though, being that eventually you will possibly be recording bands. That is my next big purchase.
