I use the Matrox G450 card which has dual monitor outputs. I think it's discontinued now but the new model the G550 is essentially the same thing. Works flawless.

Just a thought

You can get the Matrox G550s on Ebay relatively cheap
THere was an Australian vendor selling them , bought one
my self....no problems whatsoever, nice card.

But these cards wont support any decent 3D , which is
important to me and alas i pulled the card out and reinstalled
the G-Force 3. But for Dual Monitors they are outstanding

I DID IT !!! They're only 15 inchers, but there's TWO of them !! This is great !! I had an old monitor in my storage garage. I un-buried it, wiped it off and hooked it up to my second video card. Made a few configurations, and WHAM !! There it is!! Two monitors, two PCI cards, and now my Piano Roll is always there, standing proud, and occupying its own space on its own monitor! Man I'm loving this!

Now, do I have to drag the windows over there every time I open Sonar, or can I set it up as a screenset?

ed:D :D :D :D :D

Dual monitors are great! BUT be prepared, now you will get spoiled, there is no going back..

"do I have to drag the windows over there every time I open Sonar, or can I set it up as a screenset?"

After you get the windows setup into a layout that you like, go to View/Layouts, then hit "add", name the layout and close the dialog. You can then apply the same layout to any of your other projects too.

Give it 2 months, and you can't work on a computer with only one monitor... ;)

I got a 19" monitor at home because I've got one at work... i liked the extra size.... it barely fits on my desk... then I got the second monitor... now I want to get one at work... i miss the extra screen it is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo handy!!!!!

And no, there can be no going back!!!!

That's what I'm talking about!

I'm using two 19" monitors. I can hardly get anything done when I'm at work. But I think that's because I'm hanging around here... :D

Dual monitors

No mate, im not australian. The Ebay
Auctioneer was. :-)....Matrox G550 for $60.00 US

Ive got a 21'' on my desk and was working
with another 19 ,just fooling around , i would
have had to gotten out the Sawzall and reworked some
furniture to make it permanent , another reason why
i nixed the dual monitors, besides the 3D problem.

But it is a real nice working environment.
Grats to those who use them

I'm soooo used to work with Korg two liners screen display :)

That's why when the hype of dual monitor filled the page, I hooked dual cellphone display to my AGP card... :D I'm so trendy, eh ? :D :D :D

Yeah,But.....

You havent really enjoyed the full spectrum of
Duality until youv'e tried Dual Baby Monitors.
It just doesnt get any better than that :-)

Hey, guys. I'm still diggin' the dual thing here, but now there's a slight issue. I have the track view on the main screen, and the piano roll on the second. When I'm playing back a project, I hear a terrible 'pop' every time the piano roll switches to the next segment while scrolling. Is this something I can fix? I sure hope so! Thanks

This is most likely a videocard issue. Try setting the Hardware Accelleration one tick to the left...
