I don't think I need to post this anywhere but here you craphead!!! I will post where I want, when I want. Go to hell.

i guess you've changed your opinion about posting...you blasted this guy...oh that's right, you're the only one that can post whatever wherever you want...with an A-Hole attitude...

I see Basil, you own this site now? ;) Since you make the decisions and stuff now could you please take care to delete cross posts and spams too please?

The Studio Display forum was created so members would have a FORUM to post pics in. It actually started long ago when I posted a pic of my old studio in another forum and Dragon thought it would be cool to have a forum for all members to display their studios in. It is there for that, and should be used for that. WTF does posting pics of your home recording studio have to do with "Recording Techniques"? Nothing, thus, this don't belong in this forum. Getting touchy just get's you flamed, and when I flame, it is like a forest fire! :D Wanna try me Basil? ;) And for that matter, what do you think "Dragon" means? He earned that username in his long years of posting on BBS's...:D

Let's say that I just start posting whatever I WANT where ever I want on this BBS. Then everybody starts doing that. Then the forums have NO MEANING. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. You dudes that try to justify bucking the system and practice bad "netiquette" are the very reason WHY there are rules for the BBS that you AGREED TO when you signed up for membership. Remember, your membership is not a "right" you have, it is a priviledge extended to you from the sites owner (who happens to be someone other than Basil....), and that priviledge can be taken away from you just as easily as it was granted (not that anybody wants to go to that extreme, but it HAS be revoked from others in the past, and I am sure some other moron will come along thinking they can do whatever they want around here and get away with it....).

Also, this thread was cross posted in SEVERAL forums (all of which had nothing to do with Studio Display too!!!). That is another NO NO on this site! If you want to see ONE of the other cross posts, it is IN the Studio Display Forum now (after it was moved...I would have had Dragon move this one too but didn't see it until now....grrrrrrrrrrrrr.....). Please refrain from posting the same thread to several forums in the future (I am being polite! I said please....I don't usually say please.....what the hell has come over me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!)

Peace out....

Ed

Original question:
I need a new drum kit to audition for a band. What brand is best?

I recon Pearl. For sound and value.

As far as "fruity vs drum kit", there both way too useful, both of them. Its fun to hit skins with drum sticks and thats a different beast altogether to record. For song writing I cant beat fruity loops. For recording I cant beat miking nicely tuned skins. I think we can look at them as being both our friends. By the way my fruity sequencing is pretty basic. Its just so damn easy to get a basic beat goin in fruity. But when I play the song to my drummer he then takes it to a whole new level. I think a different vibe comes from actually playing in real time as drummers do verses hitting a bunch of dots and hitting play to see what happens. But thats the beuty of it. Your always going to get something different from fruity and something different from a drum kit. Definately both worth mastering. I recon more drummers should get into fruity loops, imagine what they could do with it?

But sonusman, go for a second hand pearl kit and get some new skins for it. Thats your best sounding and cheapest option.

You don't need a kit. Just whack your dick on a table in time. I hear that's how Keith Moon did it.

It kind of depends on the type of music played and the sound you're after.
Anything jazzy and you won't beat a good Gretch kit, but for heavier / rock, and especially for recording, its difficult to find something easier to work with than either a DW or a maple Yamaha kit.

Sonixx hit the nail on the head:)

Sonusman, I got a frien who's got a great Ludwig drum set. He found it in the basement of some lady who didn't know trhe value of it. and it's one of the greatest rocksets I ever heared.

hey Vox...sorry to break the news... hey...don't fret...Ed's got plenty of Tact go around...

No VOX, you lost that title long ago....:) Sonixx is my new bitch around here....he has really earned it.

As far as tact, well, how I apply that is sort of like how you season food. A little sugar here, and little salt there.

For you I save the vinegar and soy sauce!

sjoko - your comments are straight, right?

I need to know. Otherwise, your posts are without a doubt the weirdest in this thread. :)

old sjoko = straight
new sjoko = bend

or was it the other way around?
I always think of someone in lederhosen when I hear Ludwig

Sonixx,

Before you continue to appear silly (I'm being polite), have a look at the following. You may notice that "Basil" was the first to be confrontational..........he obviously either didn't know or chose to ignore the fact that there was a more appropriate forum for the original post.

I disagree. If people want to show pictures of their home frecording setup, let em. It is not like they are spamming and I have only seen one of these. Besides who cares really? I surely am not bothered by it. Post away. Peter

His last comment would imply a lack of respect for these forums and the rules we all agree to when we register, consequently sonusman's response is not really that hard to understand, is it?

Before responding please engage your brain before opening your mouth.

In your eyes I was a dumbass and moron, I admit that, but come on, Ed... lets be honest.. I was never your "bitch.. "

Little bit of self flattery going on there bro..

Oh, and lose the soy sauce and add in some Curry powder, you will surely love the resulting flavour even moreso;)
