I need a new drum kit to audition for a band. What brand is best?
 
I think Fruity Loops makes some killer drums.
 
Sonusman, you've got like a million posts, you know that this is a loaded question. There are way too many brands. You need to figure out how much you want to spend - and then try to find the best kit in that price range. And why are you asking in the recording forum vs. the drum forum? Are you messin' with us???

Many consider DW to be "the best" but they are expensive. I personally like Ayotte alot. There are several large companies that make everthing from a $400 set to a $4000 set (not including cymbals) Yamaha, Pearl, Mapex, Sonor, Tama, Ludwig Slingerland, Fibes, Premier, GMS, Orange County, etc. etc. etc.

Look on the drum discussion forum, there is a thread for "what's your favorite drums" This question would be better for that forum anyway!!!

Give more info and you can get better feedback.

BK..didn't you get the memo? Hardware is out..software is king! Real drums are so.....cliche.

I play Yamaha Birch Custom Absolutes. They make me orgasm....

But, this is like asking what fast food restaurant is best. Do you like McDonalds or Burger King? Coke or Pepsi? Fat Elvis or skinny Elvis? :)
 
Real drumers are dinosaurs! I can program anything in fruity loops that any drummer can play...and you couldn't tell the difference!

If you can get a live feel out of a machine, power to ya. You ever been to a show where tha band played along to a drum machine? I have. It was "way gay"....

But the studio isn't the stage, and to each their own.
 
I would deside which recording had my favorite drum sound on it and find out what set was used. buy that set.
 
Was it? I'm not familiar with Fruity Pebbles, so what do I know? :)
 
CHeck drumweb.com. I recommend Tama or Yamaha, and if you like boutique kits there are a lot to choose from. WHen you take into accoutn the woods and how well what works for recording I would consider birch or better yet maple. Drummers seem to look down on Premier and Pearl though I am unsure Premier deserves it. Ludwig is an american classic but somewhat out of favor. Peter

Whats 'Fruity Pebbles'? I havn't heard of that one yet!!! Is it the new Rock and Roll version? Ohhhh I cant wait.

And how do you know the band was 'way gay'? Did you go home with them?
 
Hey there Sonus man, not to be rude, but this isn't the place for these kind of questions if you'll look around a bit you will see a special forum called the mp3 clinic, where you can record your questions convert them to mp3, then post them & wait for a recorded response ggeeeezzzz, whats next :rolleyes:
