So im recording some material for my friends band and its the drums that are throwing me through a loop. basically he has a huge kit. 13 pieces. and he uses all of it in every song. soo basically i need to figure out the best way to get all of that onto pro tools.

basically i need to figure out if i should rent a large interface or if i should put it through a mixing board and then run that through pro tools.

and what mics (that are fairly cheap) to pick up the kit

Then you need an 8 channel interface with micpres to accomplish your task at hand borderline. not to mention mic cables and stands!
