Hi I want to record miltitrack drums with my pc > interface > preamps > mics > drums

My issue now is what to get for the preamps, I hear the trick can be done by getting a mixer with channel inserts for each mic. I also see some economic 8 channel rack preamps such as Nady PRA-8, or i could get 3 of MAudio Audio Buddy (I only kneed 6 preamps as my interface has already 2, and i intend to use 8 microphones)
so i want to know how convenient these options are, what others I am missing and what you guys like to use when recording drums, thanks!

if your interface has adat in I would look to get something like a behringer ada, art pro optotube, or the new presonus audiobox 18 has 8 pres. Personally I would go with the presonus interface, 8 pres, decent conversion, and you VSL software and studio one artist that comes with it is pretty cool

Another vote for the Behringer ADA8000 if your interface has ADAT in. I've got one and it's great for adding 8 extra mic pres for around $200.

I use the behringer ada8k's just to piss the high falootin types off quite often. Theyll do great on drums. I don't use them when I'm making drum samples, but that's just because I don't want to chance anything in such a situation. I use them for recording whole drumsets all the time. My main micro mobile rig is a MOTU 8pre + 1 behringer ada8k. My mini mobile rig is an RME FF800 + 2 presonus Digimax FS, and I've never heard an earth shattering difference between the two rigs
