Hi ,

Anyone using Drumkit from hell superior? I heard the demo, and quite honestly I dont beleive what I hear. I mean This thing won't play a standard midi file and make it sound like the demo, will it? I just want some feedback with those who tried it.

Regards,

I have it and it is brilliant although very memory intensive, especially with all the bleed and ambience settings on.. If you have done all your velocity settings and everything on your MIDI file then it should sound as goos as the unprocessed demo's. The only problem is if you are using the GM kit then you aren't taking full advantage of the program.

What I do is program my drums in cubase using no bleed on it or anything and then bounce all the tracks down with bleed ready to be EQ'd and processed. I swear this is the most ultra realistic kit I have heard.

Agree with Boulty. However you can get the best sounds off a standard MIDI file by loading a full kit and then remapping it so that it matches the MIDI convention, rather than using the GM kit.

Then the feel of randomize velocity that i hear on the demo has to be tweaked by the user (like eight notes played by hi-hats or ride cymbals), it is not automatic?

There is a randomizer that happens when you use velocities of 127 only but you are greatly reducing your dynamic range then. The hi-hats all have random samples that are played regardless of velocity I think, if you want I can try it out just run a basic 2 bar hihat pattern without changing velocities and upload it for you to listen to?

why do companies like toontrack and native instruments battery make drum kits that are not gm compatible. I dont seem to understand that.

They are if you just remap them, which doesn't take long. Why they are not mapped to the GM standard I don't know. I wonder if it is because the standard GM map is not very convenient when you are tapping parts in from a keyboard?
