hello everybody!

I know this might be an odd question, but please bear with me.

i use Cool Edit Pro 2.0, and am looking for a way to record drum triggers live using either a keyboard or drug triggers. Think of it this way, i am a drummer but do not have the room for a full kit or a vdrum kit in my apartment. I would like to simply play the parts with my hands using the triggers or keyboard and then simply use this WAV file as my drum track. I have Fruity Loops and Reason, and would love to possibly use these sampes to trigger somehow.

How can i play the parts with my hands and end up with a WAV that i can then track in Cool Edit? does this make sense?

thanks!

yes....first you should check out the drum synths you are speaking of. there are different types and brands. most have either an analog or digital (sometimes both) output. do you have an interface for your computer? do you have a sound card?

also...try not to cross post in different sections.

If you already have drum triggers, you could set up a couple drums and play them (which is worlds better than trying to play drums on a keyboard) and then use something like Battery for the sounds.

i'm sorry about doubling up....i just removed from Newbie

yes, i have a nice audio card (6Fire w/breakout).....

when you say to play a couple of drums, do you mean to record these direct audio or midi?

-thanks

I meant midi...or at least use the midi to generate audio in another app and record that audio. The reason for doing this is just so you can actually play a drum to get your drum tracks, instead of having to play your drums on a keyboard - which sucks. Though, if you're not a drummer it's quite a bit easier to play drums on a keyboard - or at least that seems to be the case.

thank you.

What drum synth modules would you recommend that might fit my purposes? i assume i would only need 2 pads, correct?

what model pads, synths would other recommend?

if the device has audio outputs u can go that route. what synth are you talking about?

Reason seems to be a bit more intuitive to me that Fruity Loops. Any synths you would recommend that are bit more suited for exactly what i'm looking for?

Just about any module would work fine - I'd recommend finding an Alesis D4 on ebay. They're cheap and they work great. You might also want to look for pads on ebay too. I got a Pintech NX6 for $60 off of ebay, which has six rubber pads. Of course, you could also build your own pads (there's been numerous threads on this subject), or just use a piezo transducer as a trigger on acoustic drums.
